My two dalmatians, Bonny and Byron, stayed with Guy and Bea while we went on holiday recently. They had a wonderful time and were very happy there. They came back to us better trained than they went. Guy and Bea give them plenty of time and individual attention. They clearly love dogs and the dogs love them. Because they only take one or two dogs at a time, the dog is part of the family. I am very happy to recommend them.
We have a small cattery in Kissamos. Often we are asked if we look after dogs but we do not have the facilities. So we redirect them to Beatrice and Guy who we consider as professional and responsible dog handlers. And by the way, they are actually nice people. Thoroughly recommended. Steve and Jane

Our (huge!) puppy Peli recently spent a long weekend with Guy and Bea and was treated as a member of the family. Our dog, Henry, spent a wonderful week with Guy and Beatrice. Henry settled in immedizately onto the couch. Guy advised us of a better diet and Henry was better behaved when he came back. Guy has a wealth of knowledge to impart to anyone wishing to listen. I have never felt happier leaving Henry with anyone as I know Guy and Beatrice will deal with anything that arises. We had very bad experience leaving our dog in Chania last Christmas. Not only was the place far away from our house, but also our Electra came back stressed and frightened. It took her a month to recover. But it was completely different when our dog stayed with Guy and Bea. We knew that they are dog lovers and we also realized that our dog became a member of their family while we were on holiday. We were glad to see our dog calmer and better behaved when we returned. Our dog Emily stayed with Guy & Bea for a month recently. She couldn't have been better looked after! She is an old lady and they understood her needs perfectly. Guy kept us informed on how she was settling in, which was a real comfort. Going on holiday always brings with it concerns with repect to Emily's well-being. We needn't have worried! We will certainly send her 'on holiday' again and can't recommend Guy and Bea enough.
What a wonderful holiday home for our boys. They were very happy playing in the olive grove with their new friends. Both dogs are better at walking to heel and respond every time to the magic ACME whistle that Guy introduced them (and us) to. Hi - we had a fantastic time when our owners went away - can't wait for them to go again. Made new friends and playmates. Solo had a wonderful time staying with Guy and Beatrice and came home happy and contented. When he called me two hours after I left Tito with him, I thought he would say that my dog is unbearable and that I should take him back..On the contrary, Guy said that Tito was already out playing with all the other dogs..! I can tell from Tito's behaviour that he had the most amazing week with Guy and Beatrice and I am sure that he is looking forward to my next trip, so that he can spend some time with them again!
Guy and Beatrice know all about dogs and they take care of them as if they were their own. Knowing that they can look after my dog, I'll never be anxious about travelling again!
Crackers has been to stay with guy and Beatrice quite frequently over the past few months and she loves her time there, it is also nice to be able to relaxed about leaving your dog with somebody else. Crackers is a german pointer and is not yet one so she is not the best behaved dog, this is not a problem for guy as he is a great trainer aswell as a carer. Although we miss crackers we know she is well looked after and we would not hesitate in recommending Pluto boarding kennels to anyone!! Thank you guy and Beatrice from Jodie and Don

Cassie had a wonderful stay with Guy and Beatrice, It was a little longer than expected which proved to be no problem for Pluto much to our relief. I have been on a long journey, which started back in June 2011, with Guy and Bea who run the Pluto boarding kennels.
I rescued four puppies and their mother , named Mana,and was thankful to have found such a loving ,safe environment to leave them when I returned to england,
Not only did they cater for all of their needs but in addition to that Guy took it upon himself to use his many years years of canine experience and dog training skills to teach my four little rascals obedience,manners and has turned them into the most well-behaved characters, which has given them the best start in life I could ever have dreamed of.
Now their six month quarantine is up , it is both a sad and joyful time to be leaving to start a new life back in England.
I would not hesitate to recommend Pluto dog kennels . It is truly the best place to house your dog in Crete.
Our dog Chester is our first dog! He is just 14 months old and we had to leave him somewhere nice for 20 days because we needed to go away for our christmas vacation. So our vet introduced Pluto dog kennels in Kissamos. We went and checked out the place and we found it was just perfect for Chester just after we met and talked with Beatrice. She LOVES dogs so much and the surroundings were perfect for our beloved member of the family, so we wanted the best for him. We left him with Beatrice and Guy and when we came back they were kind enough to bring him to our house in Platanias to save us the trip to Kastelli. Chester was very happy, totaly in love with Beatrice and we are certain that he had a great time with them. I would recommend to anyone who needs to leave their dog and have no worries at all, that Pluto dog kennels is the place to have their dog stay and know that it will be happy! Good work guys!!!
Thank you so much Guy and Beatrice for looking after Samson for us. Although he is a lovely and loving member of the family he is a "high maintenance dog" and some people can be intimidated by him. It was obvious that he had bonded with you and looked fitter and livelier than when we left him!! Πράγματι, όταν απαιτήθηκε να φύγουμε για λίγες μέρες το Πάσχα, χωρίς τον Scooby, δημιουργήθηκε θέμα στο που και ποιόν να εμπιστευθούμε! Δεν ήταν μόνο απαίτηση διαμονής, αλλά λόγω στενής σχέσης με τα παιδιά, αν δεν ήταν σε ένα καλό περιβάλλον, αντιμετωπίζαμε περίπτωση κατάθλιψης. Ένας φίλος κτηνίατρος μου συνέστησε τον Guy, με "κλειστά μάτια" όπως μου είπε και πράγματι, δεν απαιτήθηκε και πολύς χρόνος στην πρώτη επαφή για να καταλάβει κανείς ότι είχε απόλυτο δίκιο! Φύγαμε ήρεμοι, επιστρέψαμε χαρούμενοι κι ο Scooby τρισευτυχισμένος. Μάλιστα θά έλεγα ότι τις πρώτες μέρες του έλειψαν οι βόλτες με τον Guy. Never before have I put my dogs in kennels, because to me it was like putting them in prison, but your kennel should be called a dog’s luxury hotel. I was extremely fortunate to have a referral to Guy and Beatrice's kennel in Kissamos last October. I live in the US and Norway, but had adopted a dog that was homeless in the streets of Tavronitis, not far from Kissamos, in the late spring of 2011. What good luck that Tavronitis friends got her to Guy and Beatrice! She had a wonderfully loving home for over three months. She was kept healthy, with lots and lots of exercise, and the very best of training. When I finally got to Kissamos in January of this year to bring her on the long travel through Norway and back to my home in the southwest of the USA, in New Mexico, Gypsy Girl was bright in spirit and an absolute pleasure to live with and to take on walks here in my home village. I have the highest praise for the care she received at Pluto Kennels. They transformed a smart but frightened young street dog into a confident, well-trained companion. While staying at our house in Tavronitis this summer, two 12 week old Pointer/Setter puppies were abandoned in our courtyard. After exhausting ourselves trying to find a rescue centre that would take the pups in, we decided to take the pups back to the U.K. Guy and Beatrice took Alice and Bob in while we returned to the U.K to make the necessary arrangements. They took them for their required vaccinations, they exercised and trained the, but most of all they gave them love! When I returned to Crete to bring them home I found two healthy, happy, social dogs ready to join our family. Thank you so much Guy and Beatrice for the excellent care you gave Alice and Bob. They are now resident in the U.K. and love their new family, and we all adore them!
Due to the nature of my work I have had to kennel my dogs in various places around Greece on many occasions.I have never come back to such happy and calm dogs as after Maya and Ziggys 3 week stay with Guy and Beatrice in Crete! Thank you both so much for loving and caring for my animal friends as if they were your own.I have nothing but good comments and respect for Pluto Kennels and the care, knowledge, tenderness, and love that you showed to all your animal visitors. Honey recently stayed with Guy & Beatrice for three weeks....she was so well cared for, but I'm sure we must have come home with the wrong dog, as she is now SO well behaved . . far better than when we took her !!!! We visited Pluto before Honey going to stay & were so impressed by the place. Guy & Beatrice so obviously love dogs, they take them for lovely walks & make such a fuss of them, even allowing Honey to sleep on the bed at times!!! I would recommend anyone wanting their dogs taken care of while they go away, to go to Pluto...a warm welcome awaits every dog! Very reasonable rates too & we would have no qualms about taking Honey back if & when we need too. In fact, I think Honey misses being there! (Janet & Chris Clear from Melisourgio)
Je voudrais ne pas dire de choses trop positives pour être sûre que notre chienne Happy ait encore de la place pour son prochain séjour, mais comment faire autrement? L'accueil réservé aux chiens par Guy et Béatrice est irréprochable, plus professionnel que les professionnels. En arrivant sur place, on remarque que tout est fait pour le bien-être des chiens. Guy et Béatrice font cohabiter les chiens de toutes tailles et tous caractères sans difficulté apparente. We have recently rescued Pepper who was a stray dog living in Crete. Guy and Beatrice were fundamental in the process of rescuing Pepper as we wanted to bring her home with us to England but in order to do this we had to comply with several rules and regulations. Guy and Beatrice didn't just look after Pepper for us, they also provided us with lots of helpful information about the process and they made arrangements for us with a fantastic vet. We had to leave Pepper in Crete for almost a month whilst we waited for her to meet all of the requirements to enter the UK and during this time Guy and Beatrice kept us updated about Pepper so that we felt included even though we couldn't be with her. When we flew back to Crete to collect Pepper, Guy and Beatrice let us come to their home throughout the day to let us bond with her again and we couldn't believe how much happier and healthier she looked. We flew back to England with Pepper at the end of July and Pepper surprised us by giving birth to a litter of six puppies a week later! Both Pepper and the puppies are doing really well but this wouldn't have been possible without Guy and Beatrice's help! We are so grateful to both of them and would recommend them to anyone! My wife and I left our puppies Jake and Pepper at Kissamos boarding kennel for 38 Days in sept-oct 2015. We found them in the street in Maleme during our vaccation and we could not walk away from them. We decided to take them home to Sweden and this would not have been possible without Guy and Beatrice. They helped us with the paperwork and vaccinations at the vet. And now the puppies are safe with us in Sweden. We recommend Kissamos boarding kennel VERY much. Thank you very much. Grandy was a stray dog on the beach of Kolymbari. We come to the hotel on vacation in mid-September 2015 and Grandy simply came to us. Holiday ended, and the hotel bartender promised to deliver Grandy Pluto kennel, but something happened. We made a desperate request for assistance Pluto kennel to seek Grandy. And the miracle happened more than a week after our vacation. Guy and Bea were found Grandy. Grandy had been treated very well Pluto kennel and all the things went during the quarantine brilliantly. All passport, vaccinations and medicines had been treated with great care. We got Grandy Finland 22 days of October. Grandy is absolutely wonderful and wise dog. We are eternally grateful Guy and Bea, they made all of us happy! We live in Oulu, Finland, 600 km north of Helsinki. We are looking forward how Grandy likes the snow. We found our lovely Idi on our holiday in August when we only had a few days left before going home to Sweden. We just couldn´t leave her and were in such panic, didn´t have any idea how to make it possible to bring her home. Luckily we got in contact with Guy and Bea who helped us with everything. Things went quickly with vaccination, passport and checking in at the kennel. They were helpful with lots of information all the way. Leaving Idi for 22 days after rescuing her was hard but we really appreciated that she was in such good care at a nice clean place with these fantastic people. We also met Veronica from Sweden who was in panic as she also had found a dog, Lucky. Idi and Lucky became "room mates", best friends and flied together to Sweden i September. In mid September we found two frightened , hungry and abandoned pups on a hotel beach in Kalyves , we fed and watered them throughout our holiday and gained a little bit of their confidence however were warned by the hotel management that they would be disposed of on our departure to the UK . Fearing the worst we set about a rescue plan but needed a sanctuary for Skilos and Souda , the names we had given them . After numerous and frustrating phone calls we found Pluto kennels and Guy , the day before our departure , he stated that if we caught the pups then he would collect them and organise everything for their departure to a safe and happy home . the hotel guaranteed safety for the pups for a few days after we left and they were subsequently caught , Guy collected them and took them back to Pluto , we had agreed terms and the two received the socialisation and food required for a healthy life ahead . On my return to Crete to collect in early November I found two happy dogs at ease in a kennels with plenty of freedom , well fed and now very much happier with human contact . Guy and Bea are so obviously dedicated to their charges at Pluto . Guy had organised everything for their departure to Northern Europe , I also had the pleasure of bringing a third dog to the UK , Maia , for a lovely couple from Hartlepool . I cannot thank Guy and Bea enough for their friendship , advice and care for Skilos and Souda , we could not bring them home but know that they both now have happy families to love them rather than the uncertain future they had left on a beach . I have a 7yr old Yorkie and my family has always been feeding her Beneful and just recently we found out that it's rlly bad for her! We love our doggie and want her more healthier and better choices. Is there a top brand at stores like Publix or Target? Also is the Bj's dog food good? Best Grain Free Dog Food
Since I live on Crete, I don’t know stores like Publix or Target, neither BJ’s dog food and I have no experience with Beneful Purina dog food. I’ve read that it had killed or harmed numerous dogs. Hill and other companies are also involved in some suspicious practices. Don’t rely entirely on dog food labels, there is a high rate of mislabeling among pet food. We live in a strange world, with a general tendency to “nature” and bio-products, which means you pay more for what our parents had for a normal price, without any guarantee for a higher quality and it doesn’t stop crooks and companies to claim whatever they like, doing whatever they like. The customer never gets for the price he’s paying for! Depending on the region you live in, local pet shops sell a few dog food brands and should have quality adult dog food available. Ask their advice. There are too many, much too many brands around: dog food is a billion dollar business. All brands claim they have the best available, attracting (or fooling?) customers with striking slogans. Furthermore, UK has brands that are completely unknown on the continent. Price is only a meager argument: some expensive brands are nearly worthless (Orijen f.i.). A 7 year old Yorkshire is an adult, toy breed dog. You should know if he is an active dog or not and tell the store keeper. What’s the best dry food for him? The one that has flavor; the one the dog likes (flavor!); the one giving him firm daily stools; the one that keeps its weight stable and the one that gives him a shiny coat. Never buy bulk food, but 3 to 5 kg bags closing hermetically. Air oxides dry food and diminish its vitamin and mineral contents! When one has four Great Danes, dry food is advisable. When one has a Yorkshire, home cooked food is the solution if he or she reads a good book about the subject first! Indeed, it is difficult task for an inexperienced to prepare well equilibrated food, but with a good guidance, it’s not that difficult.

Thank you Guy and Bea for looking after our rescue dog we brought from Crete to the UK. We could not have brought Lucky over without yourselves. As you took all the worries concerns of what is required to do such as getting the pet passport seeing the vets having all the vaccinations. You looked after Lucky so well he is really healthy you helped train him to use the garden. Also gave us all huge reassurance which was not only to Lucky as he's very timid and shy dog. Guy has a wealth of knowledge to impart to anyone wishing to listen. I have never felt happier leaving Henry with anyone as I know Guy and Beatrice will deal with anything that arises. An utterly charming couple and I would not hesitate to recommend boarding with them - we are hoping to book ourselves in next year !

We had very bad experience leaving our dog in Chania last Christmas. Not only was the place far away from our house, but also our Electra came back stressed and frightened. It took her a month to recover.
ReplyDeleteBut it was completely different when our dog stayed with Guy and Bea. We knew that they are dog lovers and we also realized that our dog became a member of their family while we were on holiday.
We were glad to see our dog calmer and better behaved when we returned. Now we can go away without being anxious about our dog.

Our dog Emily stayed with Guy & Bea for a month recently. She couldn't have been better looked after! She is an old lady and they understood her needs perfectly. Guy kept us informed on how she was settling in, which was a real comfort. Going on holiday always brings with it concerns with repect to Emily's well-being. We needn't have worried! We will certainly send her 'on holiday' again and can't recommend Guy and Bea enough.

Both dogs are better at walking to heel and respond every time to the magic ACME whistle that Guy introduced them (and us) to. Solo had a wonderful time staying with Guy and Beatrice and came home happy and contented. Not only that - she seems to have overcome most of her fear of being in cars and we are now able to take her with us when we go out and about. ReplyDeleteWhen he called me two hours after I left Tito with him, I thought he would say that my dog is unbearable and that I should take him back..On the contrary, Guy said that Tito was already out playing with all the other dogs..! I can tell from Tito's behaviour that he had the most amazing week with Guy and Beatrice and I am sure that he is looking forward to my next trip, so that he can spend some time with them again!
Guy and Beatrice know all about dogs and they take care of them as if they were their own. Knowing that they can look after my dog, I'll never be anxious about travelling again!
Crackers has been to stay with guy and Beatrice quite frequently over the past few months and she loves her time there, it is also nice to be able to relaxed about leaving your dog with somebody else. Crackers is a german pointer and is not yet one so she is not the best behaved dog, this is not a problem for guy as he is a great trainer aswell as a carer. Although we miss crackers we know she is well looked after and we would not hesitate in recommending Pluto boarding kennels to anyone!! Thank you guy and Beatrice from Jodie and Don

I have been on a long journey, which started back in June 2011, with Guy and Bea who run the Pluto boarding kennels.
ReplyDeleteI rescued four puppies and their mother , named Mana,and was thankful to have found such a loving ,safe environment to leave them when I returned to england,
Not only did they cater for all of their needs but in addition to that Guy took it upon himself to use his many years years of canine experience and dog training skills to teach my four little rascals obedience,manners and has turned them into the most well-behaved characters, which has given them the best start in life I could ever have dreamed of.
Now their six month quarantine is up , it is both a sad and joyful time to be leaving to start a new life back in England.
I would not hesitate to recommend Pluto dog kennels . It is truly the best place to house your dog in Crete.

Our dog Chester is our first dog! He is just 14 months old and we had to leave him somewhere nice for 20 days because we needed to go away for our christmas vacation. So our vet introduced Pluto dog kennels in Kissamos. We went and checked out the place and we found it was just perfect for Chester just after we met and talked with Beatrice. She LOVES dogs so much and the surroundings were perfect for our beloved member of the family, so we wanted the best for him. We left him with Beatrice and Guy and when we came back they were kind enough to bring him to our house in Platanias to save us the trip to Kastelli. Chester was very happy, totaly in love with Beatrice and we are certain that he had a great time with them. I would recommend to anyone who needs to leave their dog and have no worries at all, that Pluto dog kennels is the place to have their dog stay and know that it will be happy! Good work guys!!!

Although he is a lovely and loving member of the family he is a "high maintenance dog" and some people can be intimidated by him. It was obvious that he had bonded with you and looked fitter and livelier than when we left him!! It will be a great relief to know that in future we can take holidays with a peaceful mind.

Πράγματι, όταν απαιτήθηκε να φύγουμε για λίγες μέρες το Πάσχα, χωρίς τον Scooby, δημιουργήθηκε θέμα στο που και ποιόν να εμπιστευθούμε! Δεν ήταν μόνο απαίτηση διαμονής, αλλά λόγω στενής σχέσης με τα παιδιά, αν δεν ήταν σε ένα καλό περιβάλλον, αντιμετωπίζαμε περίπτωση κατάθλιψης. Ένας φίλος κτηνίατρος μου συνέστησε τον Guy, με "κλειστά μάτια" όπως μου είπε και πράγματι, δεν απαιτήθηκε και πολύς χρόνος στην πρώτη επαφή για να καταλάβει κανείς ότι είχε απόλυτο δίκιο! Φύγαμε ήρεμοι, επιστρέψαμε χαρούμενοι κι ο Scooby τρισευτυχισμένος. Μάλιστα θά έλεγα ότι τις πρώτες μέρες του έλειψαν οι βόλτες με τον Guy. Σας ευχαριστούμε από καρδιάς και σίγουρα θα τα ξαναπούμε στο μέλλον.

I was extremely fortunate to have a referral to Guy and Beatrice's kennel in Kissamos last October. I live in the US and Norway, but had adopted a dog that was homeless in the streets of Tavronitis, not far from Kissamos, in the late spring of 2011. What good luck that Tavronitis friends got her to Guy and Beatrice! She had a wonderfully loving home for over three months. She was kept healthy, with lots and lots of exercise, and the very best of training. When I finally got to Kissamos in January of this year to bring her on the long travel through Norway and back to my home in the southwest of the USA, in New Mexico, Gypsy Girl was bright in spirit and an absolute pleasure to live with and to take on walks here in my home village. I have the highest praise for the care she received at Pluto Kennels. They transformed a smart but frightened young street dog into a confident, well-trained companion.

ReplyDeleteWhile staying at our house in Tavronitis this summer, two 12 week old Pointer/Setter puppies were abandoned in our courtyard. After exhausting ourselves trying to find a rescue centre that would take the pups in, we decided to take the pups back to the U.K. Guy and Beatrice took Alice and Bob in while we returned to the U.K to make the necessary arrangements. They took them for their required vaccinations, they exercised and trained the, but most of all they gave them love! When I returned to Crete to bring them home I found two healthy, happy, social dogs ready to join our family. Thank you so much Guy and Beatrice for the excellent care you gave Alice and Bob. They are now resident in the U.K. and love their new family, and we all adore them!
ReplyDeleteDue to the nature of my work I have had to kennel my dogs in various places around Greece on many occasions.I have never come back to such happy and calm dogs as after Maya and Ziggys 3 week stay with Guy and Beatrice in Crete! Thank you both so much for loving and caring for my animal friends as if they were your own.I have nothing but good comments and respect for Pluto Kennels and the care, knowledge, tenderness, and love that you showed to all your animal visitors. Ψαγμενοι, κεφατοι, αλλα πανω απο αυτο πραγματικα αγαπανε τα ζωα σαν να ειναι δικα τους, και αυτο τους ξεχωριζει. Πολλη απλα, δεν παιζονται και τους συνιστω ανεπιφυλαχτα !! Τα σκυλια μου ηταν τελειος χωρις ιχνος απο στρες, σαν να ηταν 3 εβδομαδες στο σπιτι μας. Ενα μεγαλο BRAVO στον Guy και στην Beatrice !!!
Honey recently stayed with Guy & Beatrice for three weeks....she was so well cared for, but I'm sure we must have come home with the wrong dog, as she is now SO well behaved . . far better than when we took her !!!! We visited Pluto before Honey going to stay & were so impressed by the place. Guy & Beatrice so obviously love dogs, they take them for lovely walks & make such a fuss of them, even allowing Honey to sleep on the bed at times!!!

Je voudrais ne pas dire de choses trop positives pour être sûre que notre chienne Happy ait encore de la place pour son prochain séjour, mais comment faire autrement? L'accueil réservé aux chiens par Guy et Béatrice est irréprochable, plus professionnel que les professionnels. En arrivant sur place, on remarque que tout est fait pour le bien-être des chiens. Guy et Béatrice font cohabiter les chiens de toutes tailles et tous caractères sans difficulté apparente. Happy est restée 15 jours dans cette ambiance familiale et y reviendra sans doute aucun dès l'année prochaine. (Pantelis et Vanessa, Rethymno)

We have recently rescued Pepper who was a stray dog living in Crete. Guy and Beatrice were fundamental in the process of rescuing Pepper as we wanted to bring her home with us to England but in order to do this we had to comply with several rules and regulations. Guy and Beatrice didn't just look after Pepper for us, they also provided us with lots of helpful information about the process and they made arrangements for us with a fantastic vet. We had to leave Pepper in Crete for almost a month whilst we waited for her to meet all of the requirements to enter the UK and during this time Guy and Beatrice kept us updated about Pepper so that we felt included even though we couldn't be with her. When we flew back to Crete to collect Pepper, Guy and Beatrice let us come to their home throughout the day to let us bond with her again and we couldn't believe how much happier and healthier she looked. We flew back to England with Pepper at the end of July and Pepper surprised us by giving birth to a litter of six puppies a week later! Both Pepper and the puppies are doing really well but this wouldn't have been possible without Guy and Beatrice's help! We are so grateful to both of them and would recommend them to anyone! ReplyDeleteMy wife and I left our puppies Jake and Pepper at Kissamos boarding kennel for 38 Days in sept-oct 2015.
ReplyDeleteWe found them in the street in Maleme during our vaccation and we could not walk away from them.
We decided to take them home to Sweden and this would not have been possible without Guy and Beatrice.
They helped us with the paperwork and vaccinations at the vet. And now the puppies are safe with us in Sweden.
We recommend Kissamos boarding kennel VERY much.

Grandy was a stray dog on the beach of Kolymbari. We come to the hotel on vacation in mid-September 2015 and Grandy simply came to us. Holiday ended, and the hotel bartender promised to deliver Grandy Pluto kennel, but something happened. We made a desperate request for assistance Pluto kennel to seek Grandy. And the miracle happened more than a week after our vacation. Guy and Bea were found Grandy. Grandy had been treated very well Pluto kennel and all the things went during the quarantine brilliantly. All passport, vaccinations and medicines had been treated with great care. We got Grandy Finland 22 days of October. Grandy is absolutely wonderful and wise dog. We are eternally grateful Guy and Bea, they made all of us happy! We live in Oulu, Finland, 600 km north of Helsinki. We are looking forward how Grandy likes the snow. ReplyDeleteWe found our lovely Idi on our holiday in August when we only had a few days left before going home to Sweden. We just couldn´t leave her and were in such panic, didn´t have any idea how to make it possible to bring her home. Luckily we got in contact with Guy and Bea who helped us with everything. Things went quickly with vaccination, passport and checking in at the kennel. They were helpful with lots of information all the way. Leaving Idi for 22 days after rescuing her was hard but we really appreciated that she was in such good care at a nice clean place with these fantastic people. We also met Veronica from Sweden who was in panic as she also had found a dog, Lucky. Idi and Lucky became "room mates", best friends and flied together to Sweden i September. They are both so very loved (and spoiled) and we are all so thankful. Thank Guy and Bea for making this possible!

In mid September we found two frightened , hungry and abandoned pups on a hotel beach in Kalyves , we fed and watered them throughout our holiday and gained a little bit of their confidence however were warned by the hotel management that they would be disposed of on our departure to the UK . Fearing the worst we set about a rescue plan but needed a sanctuary for Skilos and Souda , the names we had given them . After numerous and frustrating phone calls we found Pluto kennels and Guy , the day before our departure , he stated that if we caught the pups then he would collect them and organise everything for their departure to a safe and happy home . the hotel guaranteed safety for the pups for a few days after we left and they were subsequently caught , Guy collected them and took them back to Pluto , we had agreed terms and the two received the socialisation and food required for a healthy life ahead . On my return to Crete to collect in early November I found two happy dogs at ease in a kennels with plenty of freedom , well fed and now very much happier with human contact . Guy and Bea are so obviously dedicated to their charges at Pluto . Guy had organised everything for their departure to Northern Europe , I also had the pleasure of bringing a third dog to the UK , Maia , for a lovely couple from Hartlepool . I cannot thank Guy and Bea enough for their friendship , advice and care for Skilos and Souda , we could not bring them home but know that they both now have happy families to love them rather than the uncertain future they had left on a beach . ReplyDeleteI have a 7yr old Yorkie and my family has always been feeding her Beneful and just recently we found out that it's rlly bad for her! We love our doggie and want her more healthier and better choices. Is there a top brand at stores like Publix or Target? Also is the Bj's dog food good?

Since I live on Crete, I don’t know stores like Publix or Target, neither BJ’s dog food and I have no experience with Beneful Purina dog food. I’ve read that it had killed or harmed numerous dogs. Hill and other companies are also involved in some suspicious practices. Don’t rely entirely on dog food labels, there is a high rate of mislabeling among pet food. We live in a strange world, with a general tendency to “nature” and bio-products, which means you pay more for what our parents had for a normal price, without any guarantee for a higher quality and it doesn’t stop crooks and companies to claim whatever they like, doing whatever they like. The customer never gets for the price he’s paying for!
DeleteDepending on the region you live in, local pet shops sell a few dog food brands and should have quality adult dog food available. Ask their advice. There are too many, much too many brands around: dog food is a billion dollar business. All brands claim they have the best available, attracting (or fooling?) customers with striking slogans. Furthermore, UK has brands that are completely unknown on the continent. Price is only a meager argument: some expensive brands are nearly worthless (Orijen f.i.).
A 7 year old Yorkshire is an adult, toy breed dog. You should know if he is an active dog or not and tell the store keeper. What’s the best dry food for him? The one that has flavor; the one the dog likes (flavor!); the one giving him firm daily stools; the one that keeps its weight stable and the one that gives him a shiny coat. Never buy bulk food, but 3 to 5 kg bags closing hermetically. Air oxides dry food and diminish its vitamin and mineral contents!
When one has four Great Danes, dry food is advisable. When one has a Yorkshire, home cooked food is the solution if he or she reads a good book about the subject first! Indeed, it is difficult task for an inexperienced to prepare well equilibrated food, but with a good guidance, it’s not that difficult.

As you took all the worries concerns of what is required to do such as getting the pet passport seeing the vets having all the vaccinations. You looked after Lucky so well he is really healthy you helped train him to use the garden. Also gave us all huge reassurance which was not only to Lucky as he's very timid and shy dog. Also to us as well when we were back in the UK.
