MY DOG BOOKS

I am retired now and since writing is one of my non-fatal inborn diseases, I got down to work. Obviously you are not interested in French or Greek books, but I have a few English ones you might find interesting. Allow me to present them to you, starting with the latest first. A GUIDE FOR PET-OWNERS IN GREECE
RESIDENTS AND TOURISTS
Is available as an ebook (left: 4€) and as an A5 format book (right: 10€).
http://static.lulu.com/browse/product_thumbnail.php?productId=21737621&resolution=320

This guide is intended for all pet-owners living or planning to live in Greece, as well as for all the tourists wishing to adopt a pet during their holidays.
A majority of foreigners living in Greece have rescued and/or adopted a dog, a cat or both. Residents and foreigners planning to come to live in Greece with their pet(s) want to learn more about the Greek mentality towards pets and how to obey the Greek laws. Even more urgent questions cross the mind of those tourists wanting to adopt a pet and take it with them to their homeland. They are all pet-lovers and have their heart set on doing everything that’s necessary to provide their pet(s) with the compulsory papers, veterinary care, disease-prevention methods, shelter and to comply with the Greek law.
There are too much false or incomplete information, too many unreliable advises scattered around on internet-forums or conveyed among people. That’s why the goal of this book is to discuss each of these topics and much more in-depth. It gives each one of you, concerned with his pet’s welfare, dog or cat, an answer to his queries.
This 200 pages book is divided into two parts, one for dogs, one for cats and covers all aspects of pet-ownership and -care: health and veterinary care, diseases, vaccinations, pet passport, microchipping, travelling in Greece and abroad with whatever means, pet adoption, pet companionship and much more. It’s also available as an e-book.

THE DRAFT DOG – PAST AND PRESENT
The draft dog is a fascinating subject. In the old days it was a working dog, a beast of burden. Today it is our leisure and sport companion. In the 21st century practicing dog drafting is fun and a rewarding sport activity, both for the master and for the dog(s). This book deals only with the draft dogs and their activities, commonly called dry land mushing or dog carting and not with sledge dogs. In the first part of the book we’ll approach the history of the draft dog. Then we will look at the main protagonist of the subject, the dog, at the hardware, at all sports and recreational activities and we’ll tackle some of the specific educational aspects to train the dog as a draft dog. “Use it or lose it” is a golden rule that applies to our brain, to our fitness, to our dog. Keep it active and it will live happier and longer and you, you'll have an unsuspected and unrivalled pleasure! I wish you a pleasant and instructive reading! Be it for you a sting to be ... hitched up. It’s available as a book in A5 format (9€) and as an e-book (right: 4€).

FREE-RANGING DOGS – STRAY, FERAL OR WILD?
Free-ranging dogs are a worldwide phenomenon. They are pitied or despised; they make part of the daily scene in some countries, considered as a plague in others. After having favoured pure-bred dogs for over 50 years, my wife and I rescued and kept a few, discovering with great surprise their qualities: gentleness, obedience, fondness, intelligence and much more. Prompted by the countless loose dogs on the streets of our neighbourhood, I started to search for answers to the questions: “Stray, feral, hybrid or wild? Lost or abandoned? What are those free-ranging dogs wandering about in cities and villages? What’s the difference between the European, African and Asian free-ranging dogs? Do they have something in common? …”
That’s how I ended up with a multitude of interesting topics, describing the various types of free-ranging and wild dogs, which naturally led me to consider animal ethics and welfare as well. Welcome in the strange world of wandering dogs!
It’s available as an e-book with lots of coloured pictures (4€).
